Program | Introduction of completed and planned space telescope missions, payloads and instruments. Space telescopes to be discussed are (i) Hubble Space Telescope, (ii) James Webb Space Telescope, (iii) Telescopes searching for Exo-planets such as Kepler or PLATO, (iv) X-Ray telescopes such as Chandra, XMMNewton and Athena, (v) Gamma-Ray Telescopes such as Fermi and INTEGRAL, (vi) Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) observatories such as Planck, (vii) LISA for the observation of gravitational waves. The aim is to discuss for each Space Telescope – the science objectives of the mission, – the mission scenario and operational aspects, – the design of the telescope and requirements driving the design, – the instruments and the underlying technologies. |
